Foundation Safety and Rescue Training (FSRT)

This training course is intended for all paddlers, coaches and volunteers irrespective of craft or discipline choice, and is available in either bank-based or boat-based option.

It provides training on key skills needed to operate safely and deal with common emergencies in a sheltered water environment. These skills then form the foundations for safety and rescue throughout British Canoeing awards.

White Water Safety and Rescue Training (WWS&RT)

The WWS&R training course is designed for all paddlers operating in a moderate white water environment in either kayak or canoe. In addition, the training is required for those seeking their Leadership (white water or open canoe) award.

The objective is to provide the underpinning knowledge and teach simple and safe practical skills that can be applied appropriately. By its nature the course is very ‘hands on’ and should not usually contain much classroom work. Any theory should be short riverside sessions, the duration of which will be naturally limited.
